The prevailing view of a salesman is that their purpose is to make sales, close business, and generate revenues. However, from the eyes of a servant leader the salesman takes a different view. They understand that the purpose of sales is to fill the needs of and to serve the customer or client. This is the perspective that makes a great salesman. No matter your current role, you will need to be a salesman, so learn how being a servant leader can enhance your salesmanship.
Brian Carpenter is the President and Managing Partner of Performance Resource Group, a sales development firm, and 4DSales, a sales products firm. With 27-years in sales, he began his career with IBM, then on to Hitachi Data Systems and the SABRE Group as VP of Sales and Marketing. Later, he was VP of worldwide sales, marketing, advertising, e-commerce, and customer service for the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. Brian has an MBA in Finance and Marketing and a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from OSU. Brian serves on the Boards of the Tulsa Boys Home and Junior Achievement of Oklahoma, and is active with First United Methodist Church. He is a founding member of Forrester Research’s Chief Marketing Officer Council.
